We have successfully developed the greatest number of local players into top High School Team & AAU Team players, earning a reputation as teaching quality basketball through optimum player development, with a focus on fundamentals!

Year Round Opportunities: *We provide year round youth competitive basketball development opportunities every season, ranging from Skills Clinics and Team Training to local Competitive Leagues and AAU Travel Teams! (We field Division 1 & 2 AAU Teams including 3rd grade boys to 8th grade girls Teams and up to High School aged players Traveling Teams) with a successful annual record of player development and player statisfaction. SEASONAL TRAVEL TEAMS**: (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer) AAU Travel Team Try Outs and Team Formation is done by referral of players by Coaches and or direct inquiry to us by clicking HERE and identifying the season of interest, age, competitive team experience and gender of player. All Legends Hoops Skills Clinics will incorporate basketball specific athletic conditioning! Conditioning for stamina, speed, strength and agility is essential before the Winter season! Skills Clinic will focus on FUNDAMENTALS (ball handling, passing, rebounding, defense, offense, footwork, rebounding, etc.) and SHOOTING (focus on shooting form, scoring, free throw technique) and GAME IQ (proper shot selection, court vision, safe passing, knowledge of rules, team strategy and game plays)! All of our Clinics will feature the highest ratio of quality Coaches to player in the Napa Valley, for maximum player learning and Coaching contact = four to ten players to every one Coach/Trainer ! Skills Clinics are provided in Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer based on advance reservation of individual players for group training or Teams for Team training, (with some 1 on 1 training by special request).
PLAYERS: All LEGENDS HOOPS players will be evaluated for skill, speed, jumping , rebounding, offense and defensive abilities, footwork, shooting, ball handling, teamwork, attitude, commitment, game IQ, athleticism and sportsmanship. All players will receive the most current and proven method of fundamental skill, game and conditioning instruction!
MANDATORY AAU Youth Athlete membership required for seasonal participation: All LEGENDS HOOPS players, clinic or camp attendees and Teams we train are required to have an AAU youth athlete membership that is the "AB Extended insurance" type ($16. for one year's membership from Sept to August via credit card & only available on-line from the National AAU website: https://play.aausports.org/summary.aspx (Enter our AAU Club Code WWE4TC (for Sept 1, 2016-August 31, 2017) or by our non-profit AAU Club name "Legends Hoops"). Your player's AAU youth athlete membership and provided player insurance will expire annually (i.e. on August 31, 2017).
DEVELOPMENTAL PURPOSE:The purpose of LEGENDS HOOPS is to provide optimum and proven player development, fundamentals training and competitive game experience to Napa Valley players and those in the surrounding communities. All LEGENDS HOOPS League players and Teams receive the same high quality training based on a proven training plan based on 5 years of success and supported by local High School Head Coaches and Napa Valley College's basketball program. Player training will focus on basketball fundamentals, skill specific drills, and player Coaching to improve game knowledge (IQ) sufficient to ensure players qualify for their High School Teams and competitive play. The LEGENDS HOOPS League and all of our programs, teams and clinics are not recreational, they are competitive and intended for those players who want to learn to play competitive basketball or improve their competitive skill set, experience and basketball specific conditioning to enable qualifying for High School Teams and the elements needed for College Team roster spots also.
We also support other local youth non-profit basketball organizations, leagues and local school programs with Coaching, player and Referee referrals, equipment, administrative support and program strategy so that the community as a whole has a higher level quality of basketball for youth.
SUMMER LEAGUE TEAMS: Our Summer League provides a competitive but fun learning format of local only games at Napa Valley College so no travel is required. Summer League size target is to form 6 Teams of 12 players per Team maximum, with incoming 6th, 7th and 8th graders, for a total of 72 (seventy-two) players overall (or separate teams by grade if enough players are available per grade). After all players of each grade have reserved a spot (RSVP), additional players will be put on a waiting list based on the order of their reservation dates (via RSVP). The Teams will all contain a mix of current* 6th, 7th & 8th grade players on the same team based on skill, size, speed, experience and athleticism. (* 5th graders will be accepted on an exception basis only for players that are highly skilled, larger and more mature for their age and able or have potential to play up a grade.) *Current 6th and 7th graders means players entering the 7th and 8th grade this Fall 2015. Most of our players are referred to us by their Coaches to us or by Coaches that know their basketball skill level. All Games will be local to allow families to take summer vacation without penalty to player's game time but provides competitive basketball instruction and challenging games. For 2015 & 2016 we have only offered competitive Boys Summer League, however if we receive enough interest in a girls Summer League, we will facilitate a girls League. SUMMER LEAGUE & WINTER LEAGUE FORMAT:Following Player Assessments, competitive Teams will be formed for best balance of skills, size, speed and experience so that all teams are competitive within the League. Each Team will have a Team Captain assigned from the players. Practices will combine intensive drills to accelerate player development as well as fun competitions and warm up with music to strive for a balance of competitive but fun environment of learning. Each Team will practice 2 times a week for 1.5 hr per practice and play refereed 5 v 5 games (on Saturdays in Napa for Summer League = from June to the end of July). Game Rules will follow National Federation of State High School Associations -NFHS rules and player age and grade rules will follow Amateur Athletic Union -AAU rules. League Champions will be awarded medals for each winning team's player and engraved ( i.e. " 2015 Summer League Champions) on it. A Team of ALL STARS may be formed in Winter from Summer League players to contest local & AAU Tournaments in the Winter and both Winter & Summer League players can try out for our Spring Travel Teams for 6th, 7th and 8th grade Teams that compete in AAU only Tourneys! Winter Teams are for both boys and girls.
LOCATIONS: The gyms and facilities we use are the best available in town! We are committed to provide quality gyms that are safe and have enough space to teach proper spacing and develop running skills!
COACHES: All LEGENDS HOOPS League Coaches are experienced Coaches, have completed Master Coaching training and have passed a background screening process and are AAU certified and insured. LEGENDS HOOPS Coaches are successful Coaches that are selected based on their knowledge of the game, proven experience in Coaching, passion for mentoring youth and have a record of success as a player, with many possessing College Team level experience! All League Coaches are under the direction, guidance and leadership of the LEGENDS HOOPS League Director Carson Carattini to maintain training consistency and quality for our Coaching staff. UNIFORMS: (Legends Hoops Uniforms are required for League Teams, not clinics or camps.) Reversible high-quality uniforms of a numbered jersey and shorts will be available for purchase from our local provider DUBS SPORTS of Napa and it is essential that parents identify the proper sizes to enable quantity ordering that results in a reduced price for player's families. $80 for Youth Sizes and $85 for Adult sizes. These Uniforms will be used in each of our seasonal program offerings (Summer, Fall, Winter, & Spring) year round so that families will get maximum value of their purchase! Basketball only type shoes are required for all participation in clinics and Teams.
SCHEDULE & SKILL LEVEL BY SEASON: Our Spring Travel Team season starts in March and ends in May before Memorial Day and is our most intensive program with the greatest number of competivie players participating. Our Summer season starts in June after local schools get out and ends in August before local school start and has a range of skill talent from AAU Club Division 1 players to high potential school team and a few recreation league players whom want to increase thier competivie game skills . OurFall schedule typically starts in August after school is in session and will include Skills Clinics on Saturday of 1 hour sessions, recurring weekly until just before school and League Team try outs in November. Fall Teams are provided to plaeyrs wanting to improve thier game skills before thier Winter School Season starts or before Club or High School Try Outs start for Winter. Our Winter season starts in November and ends in January and is for dedicated basketball players wanting he most competitive development available during Winter, perhaps in addtion to thier school team or other League. All of our Skills Clinics are open to 3rd grade to High School aged boys and girls and provide 1 hour of fundamental skill instruction and conditioning drills that includes game time (3 v 3) for all players. AAU Travel Teams: Our Teams will practice fundamentals 2x a week, play 3 v 3 and 5 v 5 games and receive hi quality custom AAU specification LEGENDS HOOPS uniforms, Team Training, gym schedule and Tournament selection support for our Coaching & Trainer staff as well as Team Management and administration support. Teams are formed primarily from Coaches referrals for boys and girls teams based on players ready for competitive travel basketball (which is above Recreation League and starting at CYO Division 2 play intensity).
FALL: Our Fall programs are intended to provide players an opportunity to continue to develop their competitive basketball skills and get tuned-up for their school Winter Team season! Skill Clinics (and Basketball Boot Camp if offered) will provide a greater focus on individual skills, including shooting, rebounding, ball handling, speed, conditioning and basketball specific athleticism will be provided by veteran Coaches and Skills Trainers, including proven Athletic Trainer & NVC Basketball Coach Carson Carattini . WINTER: LEGENDS HOOPS will provide competitive Teams to provide players looing fr the most competitive team opportunity during Winter and may be in addtion to their school Team, so we schedule around players school schedules as much as possible. Legends has been offering competitive basketball Teams starting in Winter 2015 for boys and girls in 2016 at the Middle School ages. Depending on each Team's readiness some Travel Tournaments may be scheduled. The Winter Team option is for players wanting to learn competitive basketball and develop themselves for the future purpose of playing on their High School Team! Team players will receive proven skill and game instruction to maximize player development! Current 6th, 7th and 8th grade players will be divided into skill balanced teams and Coached by experienced Coaches and Trainers with high level of High School or College Coaching and player experience! (This is not a Recreational League, such as the Napa Optimist League that does not use High School based rules. The LEGENDS HOOPS is a competitive League that use High School rules based games).
WINTER 2016: Players interested in a Boys 8th or Girls 8th grade Team of players in the 8th grade in Fall of 2016, to include highly skilled 7th grader players based on Winter Team Try Outs, Click HERE to RSVP interest and to provide us 1) player's name, 2) date of birth, 3) current grade and 4) parent's email address.
SAFETY:All players will be taught how to properly stretch for pre-game preparation and post game recovery. All Head Coaches are trained for first aid. Proper hydration, nutrition and injury prevention will be taught to all players. Game referees are professionally certified Referees and are under the Direction of the League.
COST : As a non-profit organization, to make sure costs are as reasonable as possible for families but still provide a high quality experience and education, we base the final player's costs for our Leagues, determined on how many teams are formed in total to spread the operating costs (gym lease, insurance, etc.) fairly to all players. So the per player League Fee amount will be identified prior to player's and parent's commitment agreement and following Player Assessments for each League season start. See the Program Page for specific cost, but the following provides a reference: For Summer League 2015 the Player Fee is $250 per player ($6.50 per hour based on 20 practices and 10 games). Winter Team Player Fee is typically $350 per player but may be less depending on the number of Tourneys and will be identified before Player Assessments for Winter! Player sponsorship/s for our Teams are limited based on the contributions of Alumni families and local sponsors = we provide a sponsorship of 50% of the Player League Fee as available based on a current family hardship through direct request during on-site Registration or click HERE > Contact Us via email directly. Fall Clinic cost is typically $125 for four 1 hour sessions depending on which gym we lease and requires an $16. AAU youth athlete membership for each clinic attendee. Travel Team costs are unique to each Travel Team and how many Travel Tournaments they wish to attend but our Travel Teams benefit from our non-profit gym rates, and quantity discounts for AAU Tournaments! Spring Travel Team costs are typically $350 per player.
We are a non-profit 501.3 (c) organization and seek tax deductible donations from community businesses, individuals and charitable organizations to enable us to expand our programs to more Napa Valley youth, as well as the under-privileged.
