Our 2nd Annual Boys Competitive Summer League provides incoming middle school boys an opportunity to play and learn competitive basketball skills, teamwork, sportsmanship and commitment to goals for fun, fitness, and friendship through a challenging 2 month program Coached by College players and our experienced Coaching staff. Our programs attract the majority of local top student athletes but will also recruit and are referred players with less competitive experience that are high potential players and or have a love of the game that drives them to improve their game skills, knowledge and abilities. We are passionate about basketball and the life lessons it teaches!
2) PLAYER REGISTRATION: All Players must be registered with Legends Hoops in advance of the June 18 & 19, or June 28 & 30 Player Skill Assessment dates, with a payment of Player Team Fee due by June 19. Summer League Registration is on-line through a on-line Registration Form with a Credit Card payment* for the Legends Hoops Summer League Team Fee of $300.(AAU Membership Fee of $ 16 is collected seperately by the AAU on line (see below) and is not collected or processed by Legends Hoops, AAU is a National organization that provides our Club and it's Coaches, staff and players with insurance). Player's parents need to bring a receipt copy of credit card payment of the Team Fees as proof of payment being accepted. Click HERE to Register and make Payment on-line and avoid waiting in line at the Player Registration Confirmation table during the Player Skill Assessment dates, as you will be pre-paid!
*If your family is unable to pay the Player Team Fee using a Credit Card, we will accept cash and or local check payment in full on an exception basis for a limited number of players. To request payment by cash or check, please Click HERE to email our Accounting Staff to identify the player name, name that will be on the check and or if cash will be paid by June 19 latest at NVC, so we can put your player's name down on a separate list for Registration. For those confirmed by us to pay via check or cash, you will need to still RSVP your player for a spot and bring a hard copy printout of a signed Registration Form (see below Form) with your Check # written on the top of the Registration Form. You will need to go to the Check and Cash Payment Due line at the June 18 Player Skill Assessment before your player is allowed on court. (Banking Fee of $35, will be due for all checks that are not funded or bounce.)
2016 Boys Summer League !: League starts mid June and ends before school starts in August for boys that will be entering the 6th, 7th and 8th grade in the Fall of 2016 and are currently 5th, 6th, and 7th graders. All Summer League Teams competitive games will be played on Saturdays locally at Napa Valley College. 2015 Summer League had 4 Teams, and players had fun, learned a lot! High School competitive rules and professional referees with experienced and successful Coaches, with 2 Coaches per Team!
TEAMS: Our Summer League target is to form 4 Teams of 10-12 players per Team maximum, with incoming 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders, for players currently in grades 4th to 7th grade. Players will be formed based on skill level (or separate teams by grade if enough players are available per grade). After all players of each grade have reserved a spot, additional players will be put on a waiting list based on order of their reservation dates. The Teams will all contain a mix of 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grade players on the same team based on skill, size, speed, experience and athleticism. (* 5th graders will be accepted on an exception basis only for players that are highly skilled, larger and more mature for their age and able or have potential to play up a grade.) *Current 5th, 6th and 7th graders means players entering the 6th, 7th and 8th grade this Fall 2016. Most of our players are referred to us by their Coaches to us or by Coaches that know their basketball skill level. If not enough local Teams are formed within Legends Hoops, we will invite other Teams to participate in our Saturday games.
SUMMER LEAGUE FORMAT: Following Player Assessments, competitive Teams will be formed for best balance of skills, size, speed and experience so that all teams are competitive within the League. Each Team will have a Team Captain assigned from the players. Practices will combine intensive drills to accelerate player development as well as fun competitions and warm up with music to strive for a balance of competitive but fun environment of learning. Each Team will practice 2 times a week for 1.0 hr per practice and play refereed 5 v 5 games on Saturdays in Napa (Summer = from mid June to the first week of August). Game Rules will follow National Federation of State High School Associations - NFHS and player age and grade rules will follow Amateur Athletic Union - AAU rules. League Champions will be awarded medals for each winning team's player and engraved ( i.e. " 2016 Summer League Champions) on it. A Team of ALL STARS may be formed in Winter from Summer League players to contest AAU Tournaments in the Winter of 2016 and both Winter & Summer League players will try out for our Travel AAU 2017 Spring Teams for 6th, 7th and 8th grade Teams!
2016 Summer League Schedule: 7 week program counting Player Assessments.
UPDATE (Due to NVC refinishing gym floors) Player Assessment attendance is Mandatory for new and alumni players to attend each assessment date. $10 per Assessment date participation fee per player) : June 18 Saturday & June 19 Sunday @ Napa Valley College. All players (both Alumni and new players) must RSVP to receive Player Assessment times for June 18 & June 19. Player Fee is due by June 19 at the latest.
Teams will be formed after June 19 and practice starts the week of June 20 and goes until August 5th = 7 weeks of Team Practices (no Team practice on July 4th). Your player will not be assigned to a Team until their payment is confirmed.
Team games every Saturday! (2 games every Saturday for each Team based on 4 Teams). Team games start July 2 and ending with Championship play off games on August 6th = 6 Saturdays of games! 5 Regular Season game Saturdays and 1 Championship Saturday. (No penalty for player missing Saturday games due to family Summer vacation, however each player must be committed to making a minimum of 6 of their 10 regular season games. Practice participation increases playing time in games.)
Player Cost: Team Fee for Summer League per player is $300 (= $150 per month) for 24 hours of Coaching via practices and games per player = $12.50 per hour! Team Fees are due upon Registration and prior to the first Player Skill Assessment date of June 18, 2016. As a non-profit with established costs of gym time, referee contracts, etc., there are no refunds provided past the first week of practice and all refunds will have an administration fee of $125, due to the additional accounting workload and the Team roster replacement effort that occurs when a player quits.
Uniforms: Legends Hoops provide high quality reversible and numbered on both sides, dri-fit uniforms (jersey & shorts) are required for League participation and alumni players can wear their prior season uniforms. New players uniforms are $80 for Youth Sizes and $85 for Adult sizes. We will buy back uniforms for $40 for jersey & shorts in good condition at Dub's Sports of Napa and you can also get a credit to apply to a new uniform of a larger size if your player has experienced a growth spurt. Player numbers are issued by the League based on existing player numbers, so no special number requests are available. The uniforms and lettering are custom order and non-refundable.

2016 Fall Skills & Conditioning Clinics: (Updated August 26, 2016) Legends Hoops Fall Competitive Basketball Skill Clinics will run for a total of 8 weeks from Sept 3rd to October 29th, every Saturday at NVC* and will be offered for boys and girl players to help them best prepare for their Winter Basketball Teams and Leagues. (We use Napa Valley College gym as it is 94 feet long and improves player game stamina). Max player to Coach Ratio will be 6 players to 1 Coach. All Skill Clinics will be lead by NVC Asst Men's Coach Carson Carattini and assisted by our Legends Hoops Coaching staff. To best serve all players each Clinic will provide competitive skills training that includes shooting, offensive and defensive fundamentals as well basketball specific conditioning. At each Saturday Clinic, we will provide a one hour session for each clinic group by incoming skill level and all clinic instruction will be progressive (increase in challenges and depth over time) . Skill Levels are categorized as:
1-2 pm Clinic A) BEGINNER = incoming player has minimal prior basketball experience or recreation league (Optimist, City Rec League) level only experience up to CYO Division 3, and or minimal or beginning team basketball experience. Grades 4th to 8th, boys and girls together. ( Note: Prolific Prep will be in the gym until 1pm training their Varsity Travel Team, so players are asked to stay off the court until we start).
2-3 pm Clinic B) INTERMEDIATE = incoming player has prior some competitive basketball experience and skill training via ACE, CYO Division 2, AAU Division 3 experience. Grades 5th to 9th, boys and girls together.
3-4 pm Clinic C) ADVANCED = incoming player has several years of competitive team basketball experience, skill training and athletic ability, via CYO Division I, AAU Division 1 or 2, and or High School Team experience. Grades 6th to Varsity, boys and girls together.

SCHEDULE: A total of 8 Skill clinic session dates in Fall are planned for each Saturday starting on Sept. 3 and ending on Oct. 29th, 2016 at NVC. Note that a Player or Team should be signed up for clinic by skill level by the parent or Coach and if adjustments to their skill level Clinic assignment are needed, players will be assigned to the appropriate skill level and Clinic time by our Coaching staff. Players are expected to arrive ready to play and make-up sessions due to illness are limited to the number of remaining sessions and clinic capacity. Advance notice to the Session Primary Coach is required of any absence.

COST: Each Clinic Fee is priced separately at $100 for 4 one hour sessions per player, Session 1 is from Sept. 3 to Oct. 1, Session 2 is from Oct. 8 to Oct. 29th for 4 one hour sessions. Players and Teams signing up for both Session 1 & 2 for a total of 8 sessions, the fee is $175 per player. Sibling discounts are available upon advance request via a note of siblings names and ages in the RSVP form below. Following mandatory RSVP, all players will be provided a link to pay via credit card. If unable to pay by credit card, check or cash will be allowed to a limited number on a conditional basis and requested in advance on the RSVP notes section. (No Refunds provided as we pay for gym time in advance.)
Team rates are negotiable depending on Team size, please Contact Us (click on Contact us to email us), to inquire. Team sessions will max at 12 player capacity and will be provided 2 Coaches to keep the Coach to player ratio high and optimize player learning!
Skill Clinic DROP-INs: Drop-In rate for players for each 1 hour session is $35. paid before clinic start time.
Every clinic's number of players attending will be limited with Drop-Ins accepted on a space available basis only as a first come - first served basis with Legends Alumni players provided priority. Drop-In players must bring a completed Registration form and proof of current AAU youth athlete membership for Extended insurance coverage.

NOTE: AAU Youth memberships expire August 31 every year from August to August, so if your player does not already have a AAU membership, wait until Sept 1st when we will be given a new AAU Club Code to sign up for a AAU Youth Membership after Sept 1st.
