2017 Legends Spring Travel Teams (AAU) Overview & Team RSVP:
Legends Hoops will again offer both boys Spring 2017 Teams and also 2017 Spring Lady Legends girls Travel (Club) Teams for the following grade groups based on AAU age eligibility based on date of birth:

8th grade (14 and Under) 14U = An athlete can be no older than 14 on August 31, 2017
7th grade (13 and Under) 13U = An athlete can be no older than 13 on August 31, 2017
6th grade (12 and Under) 12U = An athlete can be no older than 12 on August 31, 2017
5th grade (11 and Under) 11U = An athlete can be no older than 11 on August 31, 2017
RSVP: All players interested in Legends Hoops boys Team or Lady Legends girls Team must attend a Player Assessment and must reserve a Player Assessment spot using a RSVP email to gurantee thier Player Assesmsent spot in advance, including Alumni players from prior seasons and Coaches referrals. TEAM FOCUS & COACHING: Team focus will be competitive development of players through intense competition versus AAU Club travel teams in Northern California and through rigorous weekly practice as well as challenging mandatory Legends Skill Clinics*, in partnership with the Napa Valley College's basketball program, staff and our Legends Alumni Staff of Coaches that are active and successful at the College and High School levels! Last year we had 2 Varsity level, 1 JV and 2 Freshman level currently active High School Coaches for our 2 Boys and 2 girls 8th grade Spring Teams!
TEAM FORMATION & SUCCESS: Teams will be formed as based on skill level from Player Assessments that evaluate player competitiveness, skill, athleticism, game IQ, teamwork, attitude, commitment and potential. Alumni players and new players must all attend a minimum of one 1 hour Spring Team Player Assessment for each grade Group and parents must RSVP to reserve a Player Assessment spot, see RSVP Form below. Rosters will be formed based on AAU Divisions Division = I (Elite), II (Competitive), III (Developmental) and have a maximum of 12 players each and teams will be formed with players attending the same high school to align Coaches from local High Schools with players planning on attending the same high school, to develop early chemistry-especially in our 8th grade Teams. in 2016, we had 2 girls and 2 boys 8th grade Teams with near 100% of those incoming Freshman players making thier High School Team, with a percentage making JV and a few select making Varsity! Our Spring Team focus is maximum development of competitive players and has proven successful over the years.
Players accepted for Travel Team assignment must commit to attending 80% of practices and all Tourneys scheduled for that Team. Players earn playing time by their level of contribution in games and practice attendance and effort.
TEAM SCHEDULE: PLAYER ASSESSMENT dates and gym times per grade will be provided in February 2017 first to those players who have a RSVP reserved spot with Assessments occurring in the middle of February and early March. Practice runs after the 8th grade Dan Clark Tourney from March 13 to May 24th for a total of 10 weeks of practice with a minimum of 3 AAU Tournaments of 3 games each, typically one for each month of the Spring Season.
Boys Player Assessment for 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th grade Spring Travel Teams: Feb 18 Saturday 3pm-4pm at NVC, Feb 25th Noon to 1pm at NVC, March 4 at 3pm to 4pm at NVC, March 5 (Sunday) at 1pm to 2pm.
Girls Player Assessments for 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th grade Spring Travel Teams: Feb 11 3pm to 4pm at Grace Church Gym, Feb 18 2pm to 3pm at NVC, Feb 25 11am to noon at NVC, March 4th 2pm-3pm at NVC.

OPTIONAL**: " Las Vegas Grand Opening" by Bigfoot Hoops-Las Vegas, NV ( boys & girls) May 28 & 29 (** for our most successful Teams & requires player families to cover transportation costs or complete fundraisers in advance)

PLAYER ASSESSMENT PROCESS: All players new and alumni, will be assessed for competitive skill, game IQ, teamwork, attitude, athleticism, commitment, mental toughness and aggression during Player Assessments. Player Assessments will have Legends Staff and independent local Coaches assessing players in a number of skill categories through individual drills and team play, athletic tests and observation of player focus and listening to ensure they are following instructions. Players parents will be notified of Team assignment if deemed ready for Travel Team competition, following the final Player Assessment. Players unable to make the Player Assessment dates assigned to them may try out during the first week of practice only if there are any Roster spots still open. Players will arrive in basketball shoes ready for a 1 hour intensive assessment. Players with competitive experience is prefered but not mandatory, all players will be assessed. Player Assessment fee is $10 cash or check made out to "Legends Hoops" and will be payed prior to the player starting their Player Assessment. (The Fee is to pay for gym lease in advance of Team practice gym lease.)
PRACTICE: Team Practices are two times a week of 1.5 hour per practice during the week.Team practice focus will be on proper warm up, fundamental team skills, improvement of game IQ, teamwork, game strategy, and essential offensive and defensive abilities needed to play in High School and beyond to College.
TEAM CLINICs: Each Team (Team players) will attend a minimum of 4 Legends Hoops SKILL CLINIC* dates, each clinic is 1 hour long with an intensive focus on development of individual skills that Coaches do not have time to teach during practice, with 8 Clinic dates offfered that do not conflict with the Game dates. All SKILL CLINICs will be held at Napa Valley College and lead by NVC Asst Men's Coach and Professional Trainer Carson Carattini (Athletic Trainer for last 2 seasons for Prolific Prep and NVC Men's Team). Clinics will combine individual skills workouts that include basketball specific conditioning and increase player athleticism, movement and accuracy.

TEAM COST: $450 is the Team Fee to cover our gym costs and Tourney Fees, insurance, first aid supplies and equipment. Clinic Fee for 4 Clinics is $ 100, or $ 175 for 8 clinics, with no refunds due to injury or illness. Total Team Cost minimum is $550 for Team Fee and 4 Skills Clinics and does not include uniform costs as many of our players are retruning Alumni and will use thier Legends uniform from prior season. Partial Sponsorhsips are available if requested directly at the time of Player Assessment but are limited in number as we are a non-profit organization.
